Our Staff

William J. Vanderstappen, Professional Land Surveyor

Bill graduated with a degree in Land Surveying from Gateway Technical College, Elkhorn, Wisconsin in 1976. His career began with McHenry County Surveying, which was later purchased by Smith Engineering Consultants, Inc in 1990.  Bill remained with Smith Engineering as a vice president of the Land Surveying division until 1994, when he left to form Vanderstappen Surveying.

Bill attributes his consistent growth to the economic development in Northern Illinois, and to the fair, honest approach with which he manages his business. His ability to build a team of quality associates has allowed him to maintain his vision.

Jon Tack, Professional Engineer                                                                                   

Jon brings over 20 years experience working with county & village agencies within Northern Illinois.  During the last 12 years, Jon was the County Engineer for Lake County Planning & Development.  He has extensive knowledge in residential and commercial site development.

John Raber, Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner                                       

John joined our firm in 2007 as our Septic System Project Manager. He opened Septic System Designs, Inc. in 1999, after gaining invaluable experience working for the McHenry County Health Department. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the leading designers in Northern Illinois.

Mike Vanderstappen, Professional Land Surveyor                                        
Mike brings over 10 years of surveying experience since joining the firm in 2006. He has extensive field experience and leads our CADD department. His technological expertise has been an essential asset to our firm.
