Vanderstappen Surveying was established in May 1994 with a founding principle of providing the highest quality surveying services possible by implementing a committed and integrated approach to each individual project through utilization of professional personnel and advanced technology. As we continue to grow and provide additional services to our clients, this founding principle is still the company core.

Use of global positioning systems, robotic surveying equipment and networked CADD work stations keep us in the forefront of quality in the industry while each member of our staff remains committed to individual customer care.

Meet our Surveyors
Both of our Professional Licensed Surveyors are licensed in the state of Illinois and Wisconsin.
William J. Vanderstappen, PLS

Bill graduated with a degree in Land Surveying from Gateway Technical College, Elkhorn, Wisconsin in 1976. His career began with McHenry County Surveying, which was later purchased in 1990 by Smith Engineering Consultants, Inc.  Bill remained with Smith Engineering as a vice president of the Land Surveying division until 1994, when he left to form Vanderstappen Land Surveying, Inc.

Bill attributes his consistent growth to the economic development in Northern Illinois, and to the fair, honest approach with which he manages his business. His ability to build a team of quality associates has allowed him to maintain his vision.
Arthur P. Gritmacker, PLS

Art graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois, with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology in 2005. 

Arthur has been with VLSI for his entire professional career since 2000.  He worked up the ranks starting as an instrument person and CAD drafter and is now the Survey Manager.  He brings excellent project management and customer service skills to the firm.  He has also helped to define and maintain our high standards of practice.  A truly invaluable asset to the company!
